Part of successful regulation involves ensuring that licensees meet a defined standard of education.
The initial education requirements for condo management licensing have been defined in regulation and by Minister’s designation. These requirements vary depending on the class of licence, as well as the experience and education that an individual has obtained prior to November 1, 2017.
Generally speaking, the requirements for a General Licence are based on the following four courses developed by the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO):

Individuals will meet the education requirements for a General Licence if they satisfy all the following:
Condo managers who do not satisfy all the requirements under scenario one will require a Transitional General Licence or a Limited Licence. To then progress to a General Licence, they will have to successfully complete the following education requirements:
While there are currently no education requirements for a Limited Licence, these individuals are required to work under the supervision of experienced condo managers who hold either a General Licence or a Transitional General Licence. There are also specific conditions on the activities that a limited licensee can perform. Once a limited licensee has completed their education and work experience requirements, they can progress to a General Licence.
Mandatory licensing for condo managers is new in Ontario and it is important to allow for a smooth transition for experienced condo managers. Condo Managers who have two or more years of experience prior to November 1, 2017, can apply for a Transitional General Licence. These licensees can continue to offer condo management services while they complete their education and progress to a general licence. Transitional general licensees will have approximately three years to complete their education.
